Zumba-licious

I am not a true exercise junkie, but I need to do something to ward off the Battle of the Bulge (which in my youth I used to think was a diet plan, not a WWII event). As a dance lover, I found my perfect sport—Zumba (a Latin-inspired—and intense—dance workout). Several times a week I join my fellow Zumbaholics in a wonderful studio with mainly S. American instructors. Their English may not be great, but their moves are.

As my 60th approached, I pondered the suitable acknowledgement. I never throw big parties, except 40th high school reunions (wink-wink), but I wanted to do something a tad unusual and unexpected. Light bulb! I decided that I should "move" into my 60s by hosting a Zumba party.

So a month after my real birthday in March, forty-five men, women and engineers turned out for an unforgettable night. Even those who said they would never dance did so. I wore my usual workout clothes, but added a turquoise belly-dancing hip scarf with silver coins. Quite the look…

It was a total blast. Talk about sweating with the oldies! Someone asked me what I planned to do for 65. Can't go there yet…
